Welcome to the Furbisher and Summerfield Family Trees Website

My name is RICHARD FURBISHER and this is my family tree, I started doing the tree in the year 2000, and I originally started with the name FURBISHER, my wife Margaret then asked me to start doing her tree, her name was SUMMERFIELD before we got married in 1962. After starting with FURBISHER I then went on to research the rest of the FURBISHER side:- MULVEY, BILLINGS and SPELLMAN, then I went onto the SUMMERFIELD side:- HANDLEY and WORTLEY.  I have found an aunt in the Furbisher family I never knew of, I also found part of the Billings family in Canada.  On the Summerfield side, I have been very lucky as the Wortley family which I first had down as Workly, then found it was wrong, then when I started with the Wortley side with a lot of help from people who contacted me I ended up with a direct line from my wife to Alfred the Great he being her 32nd Great Grandfather. The Mulvey, Spellman and Harrington families left Ireland during the 1845 potato famine, so records are very scarce.

I would like to thank the following people for all there help:- ANN DYER (Summerfield), MARTIN MITCHELL (Mulvey), SANDRA PATTERSON in Canada (Billings), and all the people who contacted me about the Wortley family, also the Latter - Day Saints in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire who’s facility and on line documents I found very helpful.

I would also like to give special thanks to DAVID RODGERS my nephew,  for the web site he has created for me.
